Katie Grindall
a.k.a. Sincerely, Katie Ann
Upon introductions, I typically describe myself by my occupation or relation to another person. [I work at such and such, I’m married to so and so] In self-employment talking to people who don’t know so and so, I have a hard time making a claim. To strip it all back, I’m a busy momma and wife with five kids just trying to make ends meet. My house is typically full of toys, laundry, and pull-ups. Dishes and dirty clothes are never-ending. Exhaustion is the norm, and I absolutely love it [most of the time]!
I started my entrepreneurial journey towards the end of my first marriage when I thought I needed just a couple hours a week out of the house with positive, uplifting women who weren’t engulfed in the rest of my life. I didn’t instantly make a living selling skin care and cosmetics, but the time spent in the presence of those who did, and the overwhelming energy of support and big dreams is still a solid foundation of hope to build upon.
I believe that every person in this world is serving a purpose, and when I remember that everything happens for a reason, all of life’s little surprises seem a bit more manageable.
I was gratefully introduced to the concepts of being my own boss and making an impact in the lives of others, but it wouldn’t be until seven years later that I really started to believe in amazing possibilities.
Shortly after I married my second husband, I started exploring ways to amplify [actually work] my business and get out of my own way [stop procrastinating]. I had an amazing new man in my life, five wonderful children to watch grow into the world, and a descent middle class job with a flexible schedule. I still couldn’t help but think this business that I had waiting on the back burner was meant for something more. The more that I fought with a work-life balance trying to raise my children and still be productive at work, the less satisfaction I could feel.
Fast forward a year later and I have quit my full-time corporate job to join a team of entrepreneurs doing impactful work at the community level [this was supposed to be my second income but that plan quickly changed], taken two 6-month mentorship trainings to focus and grow my business in an entirely new way [actually put myself out there], and worked up the nerve [hopefully] to start a podcast sharing my voice, my experiences unfiltered, and my message.
Welcome to “Momma, Let’s Face It” with your host, Sincerely Katie Ann!
